Paws Applause:
Nancy Grayson Elementary School has three students who are moving on to the regional PA Emergency Management Agency poster contest in the 2017 SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS POSTER CONTEST.
The theme for the 2017 poster contest is from the National Weather Service about lightning safety message: When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors. Students are to use Pennsylvania State Parks & Outdoors as a theme for their posters.
Congratulations to third graders Hayden Wagner, Eliza Hockenberry, and Faith Wilson. I have attached a photo of their entries. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place regional winners that will move on to the state level. There will also be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners by grade. Only one student at the state level will be the poster winner with their poster to be reproduced and distributed statewide. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency will announce and contact the winning state entrants later in March. Winners will be recognized at a ceremony at a later date.

Paws Applause:
Reading Across America and Dr. Seuss' birthday were celebrated throughout the Shippensburg Area School District earlier today!
Shippensburg Schools recognize and promote the power of reading day in and day out! We encourage parents and grandparents to continue to read with their children/grandchildren, take them to the public library, provide reading material via books, subscriptions, and/or provide gift cards to a bookstore from time to time, etc.
High reading skills provide dividends for life!
Students in veteran teachers, Mrs. Barrick's and Mrs. Wolfe's, and Student Teachers, Ms. Everhart's and Ms. Herr's, 2nd grade classrooms listen to several Dr. Seuss books being read by Ship Business Manager, Mrs. Lentz, and Ship Superintendent, Dr. Mummau.

Paws Applause:
Shippensburg Area Intermediate School
We are proud of the students that are exploring their talents in a variety of ways: Chorus performance, Jump Ship and Girls on the Run. These activities require practice, dedication and commitment. We are fortunate to have so many students participating and thankful to the teachers and volunteer coaches that are working with them!
Kudos to all for providing these enriching activities to students!!!
